Housed in a modern flat-roofed reinforced concrete building, the current station replaced the original Japanese-style wooden structure, which underwent a comprehensive renovation in 2004 and now functions as the office of the Fenqihu Railway Maintenance Section. The charming scenery surrounding Fenqihu has positioned it as one of the most iconic attractions in the Alishan area, featuring highlights like the historic old street, the famous Fenqihu railway bento, square bamboos, ancient trails, captivating waterfalls, and peculiar rock formations.
The fusion of natural landscapes, railway heritage, and local community life in Fenqihu forms a mountainous village with a distinctive atmosphere, making it a popular destination for travelers exploring the Alishan mountain region.
In 2021, the station's surroundings were redesigned with a focus on indigenous vegetation and sustainability, where permeable surfaces were introduced and water supply pipelines were reorganized.
