The types of trains

Basic capacity

The basic fare of charter trains is calculated based on the basic capacity of the train at the adult fare.

1. Alishan carriage (with air conditioners and with reserved seats): 5 cars and 80 passengers
2. Zhongxing carriage (with air conditioners and without reserved seats): 5 cars and 80 passengers
3. Zhuke carriage (without air conditioners and without reserved seats): 5 cars and 80 passengers
4. Cypress wooden carriage: 4 cars and 120 passengers

The maximum number of how many passengers each train could carry, including standing tickets

1. Alishan carriage (with air conditioners and with reserved seats): 5 cars and 225 passengers
2. Zhongxing carriage (with air conditioners and without reserved seats): 5 cars and 300 passengers
3. Zhuke carriage (without air conditioners and without reserved seats): 5 cars and 350 passengers
4. Cypress wooden carriage: 4 cars and 200 passengers

The instructions for the standards of price calculation

1. The calculation formula
   1. Total price for one trip = (The tickets prices from the origin station to the destination station × amount of passengers)*+ charter fee
   2. Total price for the round trip = total fare for one trip × 2 + charter free

2. Detailed descriptions
   1. Ticket prices and ticket numbers for charging fees: The fees will be charged based on how many seated passengers the train could carry for this type of train to multiply by total price for this type of train. If the actual number of passengers exceeds the seated passenger numbers that train could carry, it will count based on the actual number of passengers. For the exceeding part, concession fares could be applied.
   2. Fees for the chartered trains: The charter fee is charged by mileages for each distance from the origin station to the destination station, separately for outbound trip and inbound trip. But if the outbound trip and inbound trip are in the same day, the charter fee would be only calculated once.
   3. The charter fee of charter trains with cypress carriages would be charged double with diesel locomotives. Additional fees apply if steam locomotives are requested.

The instructions for submitting application

1. The latest date for submitting application: It must be applied for no later than 15 day prior to taking charter trains (including the day of taking trains)
2. Time for submitting application: From 9:00 am to 4:00 pm every day
3. Ways for submitting applications: The application forms of the charter trains could be downloaded from this page. After the completion of application forms, please fax or email to Beimen station (fax:+886-5-278-4379) or Alishan station (fax:+886-5-2679201).

1. Payment deadline: It is required to pay the total price within 2 days of the application day after our confirmation. If we do not receive the payment before the deadline, the application would not be reserved.

1. To change the details of taking trains
   1. It is allowed to apply for amendment once. If you intend to change the details of one trip, such as carriages, stopping stations, and schedule, it shall be submitted no later than 11 days prior to the date of the charter train (including the day of taking trains).
   2. To change schedules and stopping stations: It shall be submitted no later than 11 days prior to the date of the charter train (including the day of taking trains). If you fail to apply before the deadline, we will not accept the application.
   3. To change the number of carriages or passengers: It shall correspond to the restrictions for how many seated passengers the train could carry basically. Ticket fares could not be refunded, even if it the number of carriages or passengers is reduced. If the price increases, the price shall be paid after the amendment is confirmed within 4 days after getting confirmation from us, while the payment shall be completed no later than 8 days prior to the date of taking trains (including the day of taking trains). If you fail to apply before the deadline, we will not accept the application.
   4. To change the origin station or destination station: If the distance is shorter after amendment, the price is not refundable. If the price increases due to the extension of distance, the price shall be paid after confirmation and paid within 4 days after getting confirmation from us, while the payment shall be completed no later than 8 days prior to the date of taking trains (including the day of taking trains). If you fail to apply for it before the deadline, we will not accept the application.
   5. Our office reserves the final approval rights.
2. To get refund from cancelling the tickets
   1. Cancelling fees to refund the tickets = The cancelling fee is calculated by 20 % of total prices already paid.
   2. Cancellation shall be applied no later than 4 days prior to the date of taking trains (including the day of taking trains). Refund it not possible if you apply for it on that travelling day or the application is overdue.
3. The customers could get refund due to the force majeure or appropriate reasons not caused by the passengers, such as typhoons or snapping the roads, the rules for getting refund are as following:
   1. The payment would be refunded without additional charges if the trains stop traveling due to force majeure.
   2. To refund due to typhoons: It could be refunded without additional charges, if the traveling period faces the land typhoon warning issued by the Central Weather Bureau until 4 hours after it lifts the land warning, regardless of whether the station is located within the areas of the land warning.
   3. If you intend to get refund, please submit the application no later than one year after the first trip date (outbound trip), and please go to Alishan station or Beimen station to apply for it. If you have already picked up tickets, please provide them when submitting the application of refund. If you have applied for the certificate of receipt issued previously, please also provide it, otherwise we will not accept the application.
